Transperosnal Counselling
Transpersonal Counselling is a process-based holistic practice. It supports the understanding that transcends the ego — the psyche, the cosmos — while planted firmly in traditional counselling techniques. A transpersonal session might include some combination of discussion, mindfulness, guided meditation, dream work, focusing (somatic body work), journaling, psychodrama and ritual. Since completing my formal training in Transpersonal Art Therapy, I have become increasingly interested in the broader application of the transpersonal approach. I am excited by the possibilities of this holistic practice and cannot vouch for its benefits enough. Both gestalt psychotherapy and the transpersonal approach hold the tenet that the human organism has the ability to “self-regulate”; that we hold many of our own answers already within ourselves. As our culture moves towards greater questioning, truth seeking, understanding, and meaning making, transpersonal counselling gives us access to explore and delve into parts of ourselves that are inherent to our human design. These parts of ourselves have largely been disowned in western mental health and healing practices, however are widely acknowledged and nurtured by many cultures around the world. I love empowering clients to access innate tools and knowledge to promote healing, change and growth.
