IMMERSIVES
In the intersection of art installation and healing lies a profound opportunity for individuals to engage and explore the depths of human experience. By merging artistic expression with the intention of healing, individuals are offered a unique pathway towards understanding and connecting with themselves and the world around them.
Gallery works that serve as immersive and experiential spaces have the capacity to facilitate significant insights and transformative experiences. Through active participation within these environments, individuals are encouraged to be present, opening themselves to new possibilities of growth and self-discovery.
The act of creation within a healing context fortifies our neural pathways, stimulating the formation of novel connections within the brain. This process encourages integration and fosters a sense of wholeness and healing within the individual.
Engaging with art in a public community setting, where all senses are awakened, reflects our innate human desire for ritual, visibility, and connection. This communal experience provides a platform for individuals to feel acknowledged, supported, and united with those around them, fostering a sense of belonging and shared humanity.
This collaboration brings together a multidisciplinary team and the perspective of a highly trained multifaceted artist for a new lease on art. Our work is to develop to meet the community's evolving needs so that we can continue to express, connect, share stories, ask questions, dive deep, and create together.
DANCE HERE
Artist Anna Langdon and composer/ musician Nicholas Griffith created the installation.n
“Dance Here”, in which we took individuals through an immersive therapeutic movement piece to create, activate intention and release after our period of stagnation and minimal connection during the height of the pandemic.
This piece was conceived after incredible responses and insights surfaced following the “Dark Room” experience-based exhibition. Dance Here highlights our human need for movement, aural sensory stimulation, and connection as a natural form of self-regulation and healing. Our latest piece was shown at the Lock-up Gallery in Newcastle, and we can’t to curate another healing sound and movement experience for you.
DARK ROOM
Dark Room is an experiential art performance by Artists Anna Langdon that explores the limits of people's discomfort when being gently controlled and surveilled by strangers. Part live performance, part immersive installation, Dark Room was a destabilizing experience for guests and performers alike. Performers were required to respond to the behaviors of guests, which made each performance unique.
“Well I was scared at first, but even though it was strange, the smells, touches, tastes, movements and sounds were all delicious. It was foreign and maybe not from this life or world, yet it was not unnatural. I’d love to go back there and stay a little longer. "
